Boat Schools by BRAC

Children as well as teachers in haor (wetland) areas in Bangladesh face trouble in reaching schools. Children need to pay boat fares to reach the schools which their parents cannot afford. Moreover lack of suitable premises and infrastructure in these areas contribute further to this problem.

The boat school initiative by BRAC is the product of a simple, yet powerful idea: if the children living in the haors cannot go to school, the school should go to them.

UNICEF-supported learning centres

As of January 2019, more than 145,000 Rohingya refugee children living in camps in south-east Bangladesh are now attending UNICEF-supported learning centres, as a new school year begins. The quality of education in the camps is also being improved through expanded learning modules and lesson plans. Rohingya children learn basic literacy, numeracy and life skills in the camp classrooms, in addition to studying the English and Burmese languages.

Jaago's Digital School

The concept of digital school is to provide quality education to the underprivileged children of the rural areas where there is shortage of experienced teachers. The digital school teachers carry out the classes virtually from Dhaka (the country's capital) while two support teachers are present at the digital school itself to monitor the students.
